Planting Fu 15:55 card

£4.88

About the artwork:

The Chinese character 福 (fu) is commonly translated as “Good Fortune,” but it also embodies deeper meanings of happiness and completeness. Its structure is composed of several symbolic elements:

  • On the left, “示” conveys the idea of a blessing or greeting.

  • On the right, the components “一” (one), “口” (mouth), and “田” (field) each carry layered meanings. “一” suggests unity and also represents the beam of a house; “口” denotes a mouth, symbolising a thriving family; and “田” signifies a field, evoking sustenance and cultivation.

Together, these elements reflect an ancient vision of good fortune: a stable home, fertile land, and the means to nourish one’s family.

15:55 signifies the time I spent stitching this piece.

  • Blank inside

  • Size: 148mm square

  • Includes brown kraft envelope (100% recycled).
